Dave Barrows (sax) and Robert Pfeiffer (guitar, voice) have been performing in small venues in north London as the “Barrows-Pfeiffer Duo”. Now their mix of jazz standards, funky blues and bossa novas will be enhanced by the lovely voice of actress and chanteuse Charlie Langham, for a gig at the “Songs from the Cellar” series, at Zela’s Wine Cafe in Highgate, on December 4th, 2015. This promises to be an intimate evening of great music, fine food and a fabulous wine selection. Space is limited so please book to avoid disappointment.
Charlie trained at Mountview. During her final year of training, Elaine Paige auditioned and personally selected her as “The next Rising Star”. Charlie was subsequently mentored by Paige and performed on her television show, ‘The Elaine Paige Show’, on Sky Arts.
Post graduation, Theatre roles include: ‘Jenny,’ The Return of the Solder, Jermyn Street Theatre – (nominated for Best Musical in the WEW awards) ‘Angel,’ PFYFH, UK Festival Tour. Film & TV roles include: ‘Harriet’, Association, Film. ‘Traveller’, Cosmos commercial. Voice work includes: Multiple backing vocals (various artists) Lead vocal on Jazz Christmas Album, realised Nov 2015 (Sonic Pond).
Charlie is the Managing Director of The Pauline Quirke Academy in Richmond, a company which educates children ages 3-18 in performing arts. She is also a writer, currently developing a children’s stop motion animation series and her first stage play is set to go into workshop January 2016.
Charlie’s love of jazz started at age 4 when she would stand on her Grandad’s feet and they would dance to Frank Sinatra.
